Patient Question:

I am 56 and had a face-lift several years ago that caused me to lose a lot of hair around my ears, particularly above the ears. Would a hair transplant be good way to replace the hair here and how natural would the results be?

Doctor’s Answer:

This is a very common problem following facial cosmetic surgery. The result of the cosmetic procedure is usually a visible scar or a loss of hair from stretching the skin. We take hair from the back of the scalp and cut them into natural occurring follicular units of 1, 2, 3 or 4 hairs. The transplanted hair is indistinguishable from your native hair since it comes from your scalp. Despite the misconception that hair cannot grow in scars, the transplanted hair continues to grow and look natural.
