How many sessions of laser therapy do I need before it starts working? Will it work in one session? I like the idea of laser therapy but not the idea of multiple trips to the doctor’s office.
Dr. Friedman’s Answer:
Laser hair therapy has been very successful but one of the reasons it has been successful is because we typically will use the laser on the scalp every other day for 30 minutes.
For patients who can’t adhere to this office-based regimen, we recommend at-home therapy with the Capillus272™ Pro laser cap, a low level light therapy device that fits undetectably inside a baseball cap and should be worn for 30 minutes every other day.
I personally feel that the hair follicle has a very short-term memory and after a week or two without laser therapy, it starts to “realize” the laser is not there anymore and it is going to start falling out again. Unfortunately, laser therapy only works while you’re using it. If you stop using laser therapy, your hair will revert to the way it was destined to be.
